In a manner reminiscent of Huawei's development of HarmonyOS as a substitute for Android, Xiaomi is preparing to embark on a similar journey to enhance its ecosystem. This undertaking gains particular significance with the imminent launch of its electric car In the initial six months of the upcoming year. The successor to MIUI, provisionally named "HyperOS," is anticipated to be a fusion of Android and Xiaomi's proprietary "Vela" system. This next-generation architecture is poised to facilitate smooth connections between vehicles, and a diverse array of smart home devices spanning over 200 product categories. It's highly conceivable that Xiaomi's electric car will integrate HyperOS, positioning it in competition with Huawei's Aito line of electric vehicles.

Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, disclosed through Weibo that HyperOS' development can be traced back to 2017. The primary objective was to establish "a unified, integrated system framework and this framework supports the entire ecosystem of applications and devices." Lei also revealed that this innovative platform is set to make the first appearance on the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series smartphones, which are reportedly in the production phase. The company has officially confirmed on Weibo that these smartphones will be unveiled later this month, featuring Leica's Summilux optics and a brand-new image sensor.
